Satinised Netherland Dwarfs
This beautiful breed isn't yet established in the UK, so our original stock was imported from Europe when we went to the Metz show in November 2015. We'll be trying to get this breed standardised with the BRC, as the Mini Satins that are accepted currently are a lot bigger than the European breed, and they are only accepted in Ivory (off-white with red eyes). They are essentially a Netherland Dwarf in size, type and weight, but with a degree of the satinised coat seen in Mini and Standard Satins. The coats are slightly different though, and due to this and the differences in type the Satinised Netherland Dwarf cannot be considered a smaller version of a Mini Satin.
Satinised Nethies can (and eventually will) exist in a wide variety of colours, but our focus now is on the Reds. This is an unusual colour, generally only found in Thriantas, New Zealand Reds, and (very rarely) Netherland Dwarfs. Our other project involving the Reds is to cross them with our Lionhead lines to create Red Lionheads- watch this space for progress updates! It is a very striking colour, and they've already attracted a great deal of attention from people when we've taken them to shows!
If you would like to buy a Satinised Netherland Dwarf, either for an unusual pet or to join us in breeding them and getting them standardised, please contact us and we'll gladly add you to our waiting list.
