Amethyst Stud around the Shows; 2014
West Sussex; 21/12/14
A nice local show to finish off our showing year. As Laurel, Fennel, Amethyst and Kaspar were only Lionheads there we were competing against ourselves but we still had a good day. BOB went to Fennel and she went on to win Best Junior Fancy with Laurel coming second for both awards, but she just missed out on the overall title coming 2nd in the Junior Grand Challenge. Venus came along with us for the Pet Show and amazed us by winning Best Pet at only her first ever show!

This wasn't just any ordinary show, we were entered with Laurel, Fennel, Amethyst, Kaspar and Bramble into 3 shows all at one venue! The first was the stock show where I had my first go at being the book steward. Ammie, Fen and Kassie all won their classes and Kas won the CC too. Fen also just missed out on Best u/5 and u/14, but won Best Junior. In both the main shows Fen won her class, and came 2nd Junior Fancy in both shows beaten by the same rabbit! The star of the show was undeniably Bramble though; he achieved Best Pet in not one but both of the Pet Shows which means he qualifies for his Pet Diploma! After the show we met with all the Lionheaders at a nearby restaurant for a well-earned meal!
This turned out to be Bramble's last show, as he passed away from a severe chest infection two weeks later. No other rabbits were affected, and the cause of the infection still remains unknown. He now lies in rest just outside RabbitVille, though we still applied for and received his Pet Diploma as a lasting memorial of my beautiful boy.

A great deal of catching up with friends we hadn't seen for ages took place at this show and we had a really lovely time! On the showing front Kassie trumped again out of our team, getting 3rd in the Junior Fancy as well as 2nd in his class in the main show. Laurie was also 2nd in her class, and Ammie and Edie were both 3rd in theirs. On the pet show front Bramble achieved Best Girls Pet but was beaten for top position by a pretty little orange rex, and Robin came 3rd.

We had an amazing time at the London with our largest team to date; Pippin, Laurel, Edith, Amethyst and Kaspar all accompanied us up to Peterborough at 2 am! It was well worth the journey though, as our results in the stock show were fantastic. Amethyst picked up her first CC against 2 adults which I'm thrilled with, though the real star was Kaspar. He achieved best buck, best u/14, 2nd best u/5 and Best Junior! The Junior lineup in the stock show was dominated by our team; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th with Kas, Laurie, Ammie, Edie and Pip in that order! Dinner with the Lionheaders on the first night was a great occasion, and on the Sunday we had a lot of fun looking around the showground.

I'm glad to say that it wasn't raining and we were able to park in the right place for this show! We had a great time with Pippin, Laurel, Edith and Sorrell, and Pippi was able to bounce right back to her former success with BOB! Laurel was 2nd, Sorrell 3rd and Edith 4th for this title in the main show but in the Junior Show Laurel and Pippin were switched around. Laurel achieved 2nd Junior Fancy, losing to a very nice smoke nethie. I was stewarding for most of the day and it was mainly the big buns, having to keep hold of not only two French Lops at once but a very sleepy Conti! (Not at the same time though I'm glad to add!)

I think that in my New Forest Show report I may have jinxed myself, as it poured with rain all day! Rather than exploring the showground during the day we hid in the rabbit tent but this wasn't the case first thing- we were sent to park on the opposite side of the showground and had to carry all our things through the mud and rain for a very long way! Still we had a good time- Sorrell achieved the best out of our team of her, Edith and Laurel and claimed 2nd u/5 Fancy in the main show, losing only to the Angora that went on to get Best in Show!

We arrived bright and early for the Lionhead Stock Show in St Neots to discover that we hadn't actually been booked in! Thankfully the secretary found us for empty pens, and Laurel, Edith, Sorrell and Bramble were all penned before the show began. In both shows Sorrell came top out of the team, achieving Best Junior in the Stock Show (which was unfortunately no surprise as I was the only Junior) and 2nd Junior Fancy in the Main Show. There was a lot of serious competition so we didn't come away with much more than that, but we had a lovely meeting up with fellow Lionheader friends.

A very successful day out with Pippin, Wispa, Laurel and Edith, and thankfully it wasn't raining unlike last year's show! In the main show Pippin won her class with Wispa coming 2nd, but it was Edith who gained the CC over her adult companions! Laurel did well, placing 3rd in a very big and high-standard class. In the Junior show it was Laurel's turn to shine, climbing all the way to the top to claim Best Junior! I'm absolutely thrilled and hope this is a success we can repeat often!

It was back to Wickham for our 2nd Anniversary of showing Lionheads at the Southern Champs with Pippi, Wispa, Laurie, Bramble, Charlie and Robin! Pippin achieved her 5th Junior COM, though narrowly missed out on Best Junior Fancy. All three girls did very well in their classes both in the main show and the Junior show, with Laurie winning the u/5 agouti class and coming second in the Junior Lionheads and Wispa was second in her class and fourth in the Juniors. We also had big successes in the Pet Show for our three boys, though we couldn't quite top last year's achievement! Bramble won the Girl's Pet Class again, with Robin third and Charlie fourth. However Bramly finished with second overall, a result which I was very pleased with as the entry was much higher this year. Overall we had a brilliant day, of which nearly all was spent stewarding, including catching a Polish, briefly using a Giant Papillion for an armrest and being nibbled by a cheeky Thuringer!
